The Ancient Practice of Creating Buildings from Simple Earthen Materials is Seeing a New Renaissance in the 21st Century

The image featured here is a small earth bag dome made over a two month period of time by an intern at the Peyote Way Church of God in Klondike, Arizona. This structure was build in 2014. The structure shown in the photo below is really too small to be of much practical use, but the builder intended the project to be a practice effort for later projects of a larger size. 

Below is a photograph of the interior of the small earth bag dome at the Peyote Way Church in Arizona. The interior was kind of cosy looking; however, the polypropylene bags used to construct this small building outgassed and gave the interior a terrible smell and an atmosphere which made my eyes water. In the future, I plan on writing about other options for making earth bag buildings that do not require the use of any synthetic petroleum-based materials in the construction process. In place of polypropylene bags, I believe it is possible to use jute bags to construct a a righteous earth bag building.
